St. Catherine High Ready For Campus Development Plan

The St. Catherine High School Alumni Association has positioned itself to partner with the school's administration and other stakeholders to pursue an ambitious development plan for the 73-year-old institution. This comes on the heels of the first major infrastructure development at its 35 St John's Road campus in three decades, the last major building project being the 1991 Matthew Ashe Building, an eight-classroom block with staff and washroom conveniences. Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2021 in August, Jamaica AA president Ms. Kerry-Ann White charged the graduates to return to their alma mater to support the vision for ambitious projects.

Stakeholders are also eyeing the construction on a new pre-university complex to accommodate the growing sixth-form cohort. School's administration have had to reject a number of qualified applicants to the school's sixth-form programme despite increasing academic performances. In addition, despite being the reigning Walker Cup Champions (2019) the team has not had the luxury of having home matches on campus since 201#. Instead, the Homestead Community Center has been used as competition home ground. This is due to the poor quality of the playing surface which can cause injuries to athletes.
