The school continues to show growth in the premier athletics Championships - ISSA/Gracekennedy Boys and Girls Championship.
Our girls retained their top 6 position while scoring a record number of points (83). They mined two (2) silver medals and three (3) bronze medals. Kitania Headley in the Class II 800m and the Class II 4x100m team were 2nd in their respective finals. Natalie Albert, in her final year of competition, was 3rd in both the Class I Shot Put and the Javelin Open events while Asharia Ulett was 3rd in the Class 2 100m hurdles.
Our boys had our best ever performance at Champs as they finished 14th also scoring a record number of points (22). Of significance was the fact that we won our 1st medal for the boys since 1979 as Rajay Hemmings broke the medal drought with a silver medal in the boys Class II Shot Put. Stand out sprinter Sandrey Davidson also represented well albeit missing a medal with a 4th place finish in the Class 1 100m.The fact that our Class III boys team got to the finals of the 4x100m relay for the first time augurs well for the future.
We have a great coaching staff headed on the boy’s side by Dwight Barnett, assisted by David Levy Jnr and the girls’ head coach Marlon James . Other members of the coaching staff are Charles Knight (jumps), Garry Williams(Middle Distance), Owen Watson (Throws) , Alexio Daley (Masseuse) and Kirk Beckford (Masseuse). Great work gentlemen!!!
Special thanks to the Parents and Alumni Volunteers for your commitment to the Track and Field Programme.
